# Die Päpste von Z

**Zacharias** (10.12.741 – 22./23.3.752) ([St. Zacharias (741-752)](http://www.mindserpent.com/religion/pope/list_of_popes.html#john16)), hl., letzter [Papst](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/papst-3/) gr. Herkunft, [Rom](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/rom/), St. Peter; gerühmt werden seine friedl. Gesinnung und große Güte. Er wurde am 3.12. gewählt und am 10.12.741 geweiht. Z. suchte gute [Beziehungen](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/beziehungen/) zu Byzanz, baute aber [auch](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/auch/) die Verbin- dungen seiner beiden Vorgänger  
zum Frankenreich weiter aus. Er unterstützte Winfrid [Bonifatius](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/bonifatius/) in der Bistumsorganisation und der Reform der fränk. [Kirche](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/kirche-2/), legitimierte 751 Pippin den Jüngeren zur Ausschaltung des letzten Merowingers (Childerich III.) und bestä- tigte ihn als [König](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/koenig/). Damit schuf er die Voraussetzungen für den [Bund](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/bund-2/), den [sein](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/sein/) Nachfolger Stephan II. mit den Franken schloß.  
**Zephyrinus** (198? – 217?) ([St. Zephyrinus (199-217)](http://www.mindserpent.com/religion/pope/list_of_popes.html#john16)), hl., wohl kein [Märtyrer](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/maertyrer/). Er bekämpfte (nach anfängl. Duldung) den [Montanismus](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/montanismus/) und [Monarchianismus](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/monarchianismus/) (christolog. und trinitar. Kontroversen), geriet dabei aber (nach der Darstellung Hippolyts von [Rom](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/rom/), der ihm mangelnde [Bildung](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/bildung/) vor- warf) in die Nähe des [Modalismus](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/modalismus/).  
**Zosimus** ( 18.3.417 – 26.12.418) ([St. Zosimus (417-418)](http://www.mindserpent.com/religion/pope/list_of_popes.html#john16)), hl., gr. Herkunft, [Rom](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/rom/), Lauren- tius-Heiligtum an der Via Tiburtina. Z. war wenig vertraut mit der lat. Mentalität. V. [a](http://arge2016.zapto.org/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/a/). durch Betonung der röm. Primatsrechte in der  
Gesamtkirche kam es zu einer Reihe von Fehlgriffen, z. B. der Erhe- bung von Arles zur Metropole Galliens und der anfängl. Unterst üt- zung der Häretiker tius, die Z. aber bald darauf verurteilen mußte.
