# Romanus I Lecapenus (920 – 944 A.D.)

Ein Admiral, er nahm den Thron während der Minderheit seines Schwiegersohns Constantine VII. An. Er verteidigte Konstantinopel gegen die [Bulgaren](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/bulgaren/) unter Simeon I. und schloss 927 [Frieden](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/frieden/) mit Simeons Sohn. Er versuchte [auch](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/auch/) erfolglos, bäuerliche und militärische Betriebe vor der Aufnahme in die Güter der Großgrundbesitzer zu schützen. Im Jahr 944 wurde [Romanus](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/romanus/) von seinen beiden überlebenden Söhnen gestürzt, die wiederum von [Konstantin](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/konstantin/) VII. Überrannt wurden.
