Als zweiter und beliebtester Sohn von [König](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/koenig/) Ferdinand I. von Kastilien und Prinzessin Sancha von León wurde Alfonso León zugeteilt, während Kastilien seinem ältesten [Bruder](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/bruder/) Sancho und Galicien seinem jüngsten [Bruder](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/bruder/) García geschenkt wurde. Sancho wurde 1072 ermordet. García wurde im folgenden Jahr entthront und lebenslang eingesperrt.  
Auf Betreiben seiner [Frau](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/frau/) Konstanz, so heißt es, brachte er den Zisterzienserorden nach Hispania, gründete sie in Sahagun, wählte einen französischen [Zisterzienser](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/zisterzienser/), Bernhard, als ersten Erzbischof von Toledo nach der Rückeroberung am 25. Mai 1085 aus heiratete seine Töchter Urraca, Teresa und Elvira mit französischen [Fürsten](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/fuersten/) und trieb in jeder Hinsicht die Ausbreitung des französischen Einflusses voran – damals die größte zivilisatorische [Kraft](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/kraft/) in [Europa](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/europa/). Er zog Hispania [auch](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/auch/) näher an das [Papsttum](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/papsttum/) heran. Es war Alfonsos [Entscheidung](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/entscheidung/), das römische Ritual anstelle des alten Messbuchs des heiligen Isidor, des mozarabischen Ritus, zu etablieren.  
Alfonso wurde am 23. Oktober 1086 in der Schlacht von Sagrajas von Yusuf ibn Tashfin und Abbad III al-Mu’tamid besiegt und am Bein schwer verwundet.  
Alfonso heiratete mindestens fünfmal und hatte zwei Geliebte und eine Verlobte.  
**Die meisten bösen Verbrechen**  
Von Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit (1085 n. Chr.) Dass der christliche [König](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/koenig/) Alfons VI. Von Kastilien die muslimische [Stadt](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/stadt/) Toledo eroberte und auf Befehl von [Papst](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/papst/) [Gregor](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/gregor/) VII., [Auch](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/auch/) St. [Gregor](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/gregor/) genannt, alle seine Einwohner, einschließlich Frauen und Kinder, ermordete. Dass die ehemaligen Besitztümer der von der [Kirche](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/kirche/) ermordeten Muslime eine weitaus fortgeschrittenere [Kultur](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/kultur/) des Reichtums und Wissens aufweisen als die 600 Jahre alte Steinzeit Europas, die von der römisch-katholischen [Kirche](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/kirche/) auferlegt wurde. Überall in [Europa](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/europa/) gab es Gerüchte über den fabelhaften Reichtum der Muslime, die unter den christlichen Führern den Wunsch weckten, ihr Land zu durchsuchen.
