Ananias war Hohepriester bei mindestens zwei verschiedenen Gelegenheiten einschließlich 46-52 [CE](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/ce/) und 62/63 [CE](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/ce/).  
Als ein bedeutender Heiliger im [Christentum](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/christentum/) anerkannt, sollte Ananias mit [Recht](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/recht/) als der Begründer des christlichen Glaubens betrachtet werden, im Gegensatz zum im Exil lebenden sarmatischen „Messias“ Nethanel (Dositheus), [auch](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/auch/) bekannt als [Barabbas](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/barabbas/) (Sohn des Vaters) und später Saul oder [Paulus](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/paulus/) [Apostel](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/apostel/).  
Es war Ananias, der nach Damaskus ging, um Saul persönlich zu rekrutieren, um eine neue Fälschungsreligion direkt gegen die wirklichen gnostischen Lehren Jesu und der [Apostel](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/apostel/) zu führen. Seine [Handlungen](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/handlungen/) werden sogar von seinem Neffen Josephus [bar](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/bar/) Matthias in den Schriften erwähnt [auch](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/auch/) bekannt als St. Luke und Flavius Josephus.  
Ananias ist [auch](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/auch/) bekannt als der Anführer der Verschwörung, James den Gerechten, den Blutsbruder Jesu und den [Kopf](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/kopf/) der Nazarener, zu ermorden.  
Es wird berichtet, dass Ananus, der Hohepriester von [Jerusalem](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/jerusalem/), den Sanhedrin der Richter (einschließlich der Präfekten Porcius Festus (59-62) und Albinus) versammelte, um Jakobus, den [Bruder](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/bruder/) Jesu Christi und einige seiner Gefährten, zu verurteilen. Nach dem vorzeitigen [Tod](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/tod/) von Porcius Festus (59-62) als Prokurator von Judäa ließ Ananias James töten.  
Jakobus der Gerechte wurde von der Brüstung geworfen und mit einem Fuller’s Club zu Tode geprügelt. Da Jakobus, wie [sein](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/sein/) [Bruder](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/bruder/) [Jesus](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/jesus/), volle römische [Bürger](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/buerger/) waren, hatte weder der Hohepriester noch der Sanhedrin die [Autorität](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/autoritaet/), so zu töten, wie es im römischen [Recht](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/recht/) der [Fall](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/fall/) war, [dies](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/dies/) wurde als ein schwerer Mord angesehen. Agrippa nahm das Hochpriestertum von Ananus für dieses Verbrechen und gab es [Jesus](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/jesus/), dem Sohn von Damneus, warf Saul (St. Paul) und die ganze [Familie](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/familie/) [Annas](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/annas-2/) ins Gefängnis und transportierte sie nach [Rom](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/rom/), um sich dem Kaiser zu stellen.  
In einer [Geschichte](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/geschichte/), die bewusst den zukünftigen Ort des Exils seines Onkels abdeckt, schrieb Flavius Josephus in seinen „offiziellen“ Texten, dass Ananias anschließend von den Zeloten zusammen mit seinem Sohn Eleazar getötet wurde. Dieser bewussten Irreführung mangelt es an Glaubwürdigkeit, als wäre Ananias gefangen, dann wären vermutlich alle Mitglieder des Annas-Clans ebenfalls gefangen genommen worden und Josephus wäre nicht am [Leben](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/leben/) gewesen, um seine [Geschichte](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/geschichte/) der Juden zu [schreiben](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/schreiben/).  
[Sein](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/sein/) Neffe, Josephus, [auch](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/auch/) bekannt als St. Lukas und Flavius Josephus, rettete das Haus [Annas](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/annas-2/) vor dem Aussterben. Ananias wurde jedoch nach [Alexandria](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/alexandria/) verbannt.  
In [Alexandria](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/alexandria/) wurde [Alexandria](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/alexandria/) der Gründungspatriarch oder „[Papst](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/papst/)“ von [Alexandria](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/alexandria/) des östlichen Christentums, bekannt als die Boethusianer.  
Im Gegensatz zu den Paulinisten, die später als westliche [Christen](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/christen/) oder Katholiken bekannt waren, wurden die Boethusianer nicht als Teil des Massenmordes an über 200.000 unschuldigen Römern während der Brandstiftung von Paul und dem ersten römischen [Papst](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/papst/), Prinz Linus von [Großbritannien](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/grossbritannien/), betrachtet.  
Während Paulinisten gejagt und durch kaiserliches Edikt im ganzen [Reich](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/reich/) hingerichtet wurden, genossen die Boethusianer für eine Zeitlang die fortgesetzte Zunahme der Popularität im östlichen [Reich](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/reich/).  
In [Alexandria](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/alexandria/) hatte Ananias eine [Zeit](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/zeit/) lang einen mächtigen Gegner gegen seine neue [Religion](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/religion/) in [Form](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/form/) von Joachim, Sohn von Saul (St. Paul), der [auch](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/auch/) als Marcian und [Johannes](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/johannes/) Mark (St. Markus der Evangelist) bekannt ist. Vermutlich wurde der Wechsel von einem sarmatischen [Namen](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/namen/) zu einem römischen [Namen](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/namen/) entworfen, um seine wahre [Identität](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/identitaet/) zu verbergen.  
Als die Paulinisten (später Katholiken / Westchristen) Konkurrenten der Boethusianer (späterer Ostchristen) waren, war es fast sicher, dass St. Hananias eine Rolle bei der Sicherstellung der Eroberung und Hinrichtung des Hl. Markus um 68 [CE](http://cloud-zma.gleeze.com/catholicencyclopedia/glossary/ce/) spielte.
